For our October Zoom meeting we had 51 attendees. We had 9 tickets paid for by non members for our guest lecturer Sara Trail, which in turn we donated to the Social Justice Sewing Academy.
We also welcomed two new members Meghan Johnson and Ann Marston.
Community Outreach Quilt Challenge – After some Zoom workshops, the participants of the COQC completed their assigned blocks and were asked to mail them back to Margy for assembly ASAP. We hope to have a photo for next month’s meeting of the assembled top.
Quiltcon Updates – Anyone who wishes to submit a quilt has until November 30th. Check the website for guidelines.
Charity Updates – After having a wonderful tutorial from Sue Erdreich at our September meeting, we are asking for you to make some pillowcases for Giving Hope Network. They are collecting them before Thanksgiving.
We also have received our preprinted quilt labels for charity quilts. If you have completed a quilt for charity and would like to attach a NJMQG label to it, please contact Elinore Gordon or a board member.
Honoring Margy Schilling – Former President
We were able to watch as Margy opened the quilt we made for her in appreciation of her service as NJMQG President for the 2017-2019 term. We are grateful for Margy’s leadership during her term. As well, we thank all who participated in the construction of this quilt.
Guest Lecturer Sara Trail from Social Justice Sewing Academy
What a wonderful time we had hearing from Sara Trail. From her enthusiastic childhood, through her energetic teenage years, and into her academic excellence in higher education, Sara provided us the insight to forming her Social Justice Sewing Academy.
We thank Sara for her very informative presentation. To learn more about SJSA or get involved with her organization click the link above. If you have scrap fabric you would like to donated to SJSA, you can mail it to the following address. SJSA P.O. Box 2473 Antioch, CA 94531
And the winner of October’s UFO Challenge, receiving a $25 gift certificate to Sew Jersey was Christa!
Next month your UFO is #11 and the prize is a Tula Pink coloring book.
Several of our members took part in a swap similar to our Connected Project. They used the sisterhood block also from Berene Campbell from Happy Sew Lucky to make the adorable blocks below.
