Happy New Year! Hope the new year has brought you good things. We had a nice meeting, with 47 people joining us over zoom. A special welcome to our newest member, Valerie, joining us.
Guild Business
First our reminders and business. We are in our renewal period. If you need to renew your membership, please go here and fill out the form. Don’t forget to do the second step of sending payment, too! You don’t want to miss out on all the great things we have coming up for 2022.
Watch your email to see if you’ve been chosen to share a little about yourself! About once a week we are going to be doing a getting to know you member spotlight thing for our Instagram. Since we haven’t been meeting in person, I feel like we miss out on getting to know other members. No pressure to share, though, if you don’t want to, just let us know.
Treasurer
Lenny gave us a perfect overview of the quarter 4 treasury report. You can always find all of that information on the members only section of the website. If you ever have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to ask any board member.
Programs
Sam got us all excited for the year ahead with a preview of some of the lectures and workshops we have coming up in 2022. It’s very exciting indeed!

The Chore Coat class, with Daniela, is coming up! There are still a few spots open if you want to jump in. Find out more info and sign up here.

We are asking everyone to make some No Stress Kennel Quilts for the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. Do you have Orphan Blocks? Fabrics you don’t know what to do with? Batting scraps? Do you love quilting? Maybe you just want a small quick project to do to get your sew-jo going? Then this is the project for you! Kennel quilts are little quilts that finish at 12×18”. You can find a pattern here. They are made to fit in the bottom of a small animal kennel used during disasters to house homeless and lost pets. They are easy to make and no binding is needed (they can chew off the bindings). An email went out with all the info, but if you didn’t receive it, reach out to a board member. If you have more questions, reach out to Wanetta or Ellaree.

Programs is also bringing back the WIP challenge!!! We want to focus on getting stuff done! What is a WIP? WIP stands for Work In Progress. You can decide what qualifies as a WIP and which ones you want to work on. Take a minute to make a list of your top WIPs that you want to finish in 2022. Sam sent out an email with some handy sheets attached to use, or just jot some down somewhere. Make sure you keep it in an easily accessible place so you can look at it often. Throughout 2022 we’ll be reminded to work on our WIPs. Each month that you finish one and submit a photo to programs, you will be entered into a prize drawing! Before our February meeting make your WIP list and Choose one WIP from your list to complete. This month’s theme: Just Get It Done… Choose a WIP that only needs a binding or a sleeve or a label, something simple that you can finish quickly and check it off your list! Let’s clear some of that clutter and just GET IT DONE! WIP it good! (come on, I had to)

If you are looking for a swap project to do, Happy Sew Lucky has made another fabulous (and customizable) pattern to celebrate International Women’s Day 2022.
From Berene…Inspired by women’s strength, and the power of women holding women up. Now thru March 31, 2022 the profit from the pattern will go to the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre in Vancouver, BC, Canada. They offer a safe, non-judgmental environment for self-identifying women (cis, trans, 2S), from all walks of life, who live and/or work in the Downtown Eastside. They provide: Meals, counselling, advocacy, emergency shelter services, self-help rehabilitation and recreational activities. To double down on the concept of women working together for change, we are offering the opportunity to participate in a worldwide swap, to pattern purchasers.
SIGN UP DEADLINE for swap: Friday, February 4, 2022

Show and Tell
Since we didn’t have a show and tell last month we had a very healthy one this month. So fun to see all of the end of 2021 finishes!

Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the emails, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you didn’t receive any or have any questions! Let’s start on those WIP lists and get sewing! Happy 2022, y’all!
Stay healthy! Peace
