Guild quilt block challenge entries

Here they are, the blocks from our NJMQG guild quilt challenge!

We gave each member three fat eighths of colors from our guild logo– Kona Chartreuse, Caribbean, Bright Pink and Orange (not a subtle pallette!). They used those colors plus Kona White to make a block that reflects what modern quilting means to them. We collected an impressive 41 blocks.

We wanted to show our gratitude to our talented members, so we asked three judges from the world of quilting– creative guru (and local Jersey guy) Mark Lipinski, fabric designer Alison Glass and modern quilter/author Elizabeth Hartman– to pick their favorite blocks. The three winners will each get a $25 gift certificate to Rock Paper Scissors and we’re hoping to have some additional goodies to share as well.

Check them out! Click to enlarge and view as a slideshow. We’ve assigned numbers for judging purposes. We’ll be sure to give credit when judging is done.

Meet the VP

A big NJMQG welcome to Stella Singleton, who has officially joined the board as Acting VP. She’ll be posting here and helping coordinate meetings and events. She’s been a member of the Phoenix MQG and Philly MQG and we’re excited to have her enthusiasm and experience.

A little about her:
Stella spends most of her day working from home which allows her to sew during her lunch-hour when not meeting with clients, of course. In her “spare time” she bakes a mean cupcake, plots adventures in her MINI Cooper, and blogs over at StellaSingleton.com

We’ve updated our About page to include photos and information about all the officers.

Keep an eye out for more exciting announcements!
