Announcements for July

The new NJMQG board would like to thank you all for electing us to our new positions. We are excited to make this an amazing year for our beloved guild! A huge thank you to our previous board members who worked so hard to make this past year a great one for the NJMQG. A very special thank you to Melanie Tuazon who fearlessly led the way!

Our July meeting is coming up on Thursday, July 16th, 7pm at Rock Paper Scissors.

Charity support: The Charleston Modern Quilt Guild is collecting signature blocks to be assembled into a quilt for the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC. To contribute, please sign a 3.5” tall by 6.5” wide (to finish at 3” x 6”) fabric block with your name and location and bring it to the July NJMQG meeting. We will collect the blocks and take care of mailing them out. Here is the link for more details: http://charlestonmodernquiltguild.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-charleston-modern-quilt-guild-is.html

Are you working on your Needle Book for the July swap? Information is here.

We have our next Open Sew date and time confirmed! Open Sew will be on Saturday, August 22nd, from 10am-2pm at the LDS Church.

Reminder: Meeting this Thursday!

It’s time for our Annual Meeting, this Thursday, June 18 at 7PM at Rock Paper Scissors in Montclair.

We will be electing our new board. See this post for the officer candidates.

We will also have a needle book swap! There’s still time to make one. Information is here.

As always, bring a chair and a name tag. If you don’t have a name tag but would like one, let us know at the meeting and we’ll pair you up with someone to swap.

POSTPONED! June Swap: Needle Book is now a JULY SWAP!

It’s time for the June July swap and this month we’re making needle books. We love these handy books and usually have one stashed with each of our hand-stitching projects.

There is only one rule for this swap – your book should be no smaller than 3″ x 4″.

You can find a great tutorial at this blog.

Some Pinspiration can be found on our NJMQG Pinterest page.

So… dig through your scrap bin, find some vintage fabrics like hankies or sheets, a bit of felt, and some ribbon and whip up a Needle Book! Bring one to the June July meeting and you’ll leave with one.

Any questions? Leave them in the comments and we’ll address them!

Have fun!
