Sad News

IMG_5305

It is with sadness that I pass along the news that Margaret (Peggy) Kelleher passed away on Friday night. Peggy loved our guild and was instrumental in its formal incorporation. She was passionate about all types of quilting, an eternally enthusiastic student. She was reluctant to give up her position as vice president while coping with illness.

Visitation hours will be held at Moriarty Funeral Home in Montclair on Tuesday,  May 6 from 3-5PM and 7-9PM. A funeral mass will be held at St. Cassian’s in Upper Montclair.

I will update this post when there are more details about the mass.

For those who didn’t have the pleasure of knowing Peggy, or for anyone who wants to remember her, click here for an inspiring Q&A that she did on our old blog. She made the name tag that I wear at each meeting, and I think of her every time I read the message she wrote on the back of it: “Find your happy.”

We will miss her terribly.

UPDATE: Full service and donation information is here.

  1. Peggy was so welcoming when I joined the Guild. I feel sad and wish I would have known her better. My condolences to her family. Mary Kirchoff

  2. Peggy was a really sweet person and a great organizer. I will miss her. While I won’t be able to make her services, her obit reads, “in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan Health Care and Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton, N.J. 08053.” I will make a donation in her name. ~ksp

  3. Peggy will be missed by all who got to know her, even for a little bit. For some reason I felt she and I bonded…we sat next to one another at several NJMQG meetings and always the exchange was pleasant. Conversation was strained at the last meeting Peggy attended…..it was obvious how truly ill she was….hard to know what to say, on anyone’s part.

    Peggy will be remembered fondly.

  4. I am so sad to hear of her death. I have not seen her since our Christmas party and I’ve been wondering about her health but did not want to be intrusive. She will indeed be missed.
