Guest Lecture with David Owen Hastings!
Let’s hang out this Thursday for our guild meeting, enjoy a guest lecture and catch up.
Our Zoom guild meeting is 3/18/21 & the meeting is wherever YOU are.
We’ll open it up at our usual 7pm for a quick visit & we’ll start at 7:15.
We have David Own Hastings joining us to talk about Minimal Design, Maximum Impact.
I’m a quilter, graphic designer, print and textile artist, and a former President of the Seattle Modern Quilt Guild. I create contemporary art and modern minimal quilt and textile designs. My creative approach to modern quilting has led to a busy schedule of workshops and lectures on quilting, branding for artists, art and textile techniques.
“The modern quilting movement is evolving and changing, but one thing remains consistent: simple, spare design combined with thoughtful quilting make an outstanding combination.“
David will give us an overview of his process for coming up with simple graphic quilt designs, starting with stitched paper models (called maquettes). He’ll show examples of how to translate an architectural photo into a quilt design. The techniques he’lI present are also great for making unique modern quilt block designs as well as tips on how to break free of stitch in the ditch walking foot quilting.
The guild with the ZOOM call in details will come soon.
