May 2020 Guild Meeting – this week!

Reminder – This THURSDAY May 21st

Where: your couch, desk, sewing area, backyard – wherever you like that is socially distance appropriate!

When: hard start @ 7:15 – we’ve got a guest!

Hey members!!!! How are you? I hope you are feeling well and staying healthy and occupied. We’d love to see your faces – How about joining us for a ZOOM conference call guild meeting this week?

Check your inbox for an upcoming email with Zoom call in details…if you are a guest and would like to join us please email programs@njmqg.com

Sooo it’s this coming Thursday – we’ll open it up at our usual time at 7pm to get set up, and we’ll start at 7:15.

We’ve got a guest lecture by Berene Campbell of Happy Sew Lucky, so please be mindful and mute your microphone. Please check your video & audio settings before we start and don’t hesitate to ask if you need some guidance about where your settings are. Since we plan on a Q&A time, familiarize yourself with the ZOOM buttons: there is a chat button that looks like a speech bubble. We’ll use this to write/type questions, and Crista will ask them to our guest so we aren’t overwhelmed with people talking.

Before that we’ll quickly talk about some stuff – a little business, then a little party, some Q&A and then our UFO & Show & Tell shares.

To better facilitate; please send Crista any photos BY WEDNESDAY to add into our meeting slide show – specify if your item is for the UFO section or Show & Tell. A simple email with description will work.

We are looking forward to seeing you.

Here are a few Zoom reminders if you have not joined us this way before. Please help us give you the best meeting we can…

-Check your microphone & speaker settings before the meeting. Call us beforehand if you need help.

-Turn off your t.v. in the background so it doesn’t compete with your microphone

-Plug in your device

-Using a headset or headphones may be helpful

Thanks so much & SEE you Thursday!!

-Rachel

The Connected Project

ConnectProjQuest (2)

This project is a collaborative quilting project designed by Berene Campbell (@happysewlucky) to remind us that even though we are physically apart from each other for a while, we are all still connected in our hearts.

Here is how it will work: Each person that signs up will be put in a group of eight members. There are 8 different sections to this block. Each member of the group will make 8 of the same section that they are given, using scrappy low volume for the background fabric and an area of color. The area of color will be each group member’s favorite color. One of these sections will be for yourself.

You will mail the seven sections that are not for you to each of the other member’s address BY AUGUST 1. Please write #theconnectedproject on the envelope. When you receive your seven pieces in the mail they must stay in their envelopes untouched. You may not peek! You may not tell others what your block looks like. You may not post on social media until after the reveal. Everyone will open their envelopes to reveal the block at the same time at the August meeting. The surprise is what makes it special!

The Connected Project is open to NJMQG members and sign ups are open until May 29th.

This is a donation based community activity. All proceeds go to Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth NJ. Trinitas Health Foundation’s mission is to provide excellent, compassionate healthcare to the people and communities in Elizabeth, including those who are poor and vulnerable. Trinitas prides itself on providing service in a caring, personalized manner to all and to serve as an advocate for those in the greatest need.
