Meeting this Thursday | May 15

Hi everyone!

It feels like ages since our last guild meeting, so come on down to Rock Paper Scissors at 7pm on May 15th and join us for the three F’s: fun, friends and of course, fabric

Here’s what we have planned:

An update on the Michael Miller MQG challenge
Information on elections in June
Upcoming events like Quilters Take Manhattan, Garden State Social, and the Warwick Quilt Show
A June swap based on the Pantone color of the year: Radiant Orchid
Everyone’s favorite: Show and Tell

We’ll also be taking a collection for the hospice in honor of our former VP, Peggy Kelleher to donate as a gift from the guild. Judy Veltidi will be collecting whatever donation you would like to give. She will be at the meeting and can answer any questions you might have but if you would like to reach her before Thursday, she can be contacted at motherfrog <at> hotmail <dot> com.

Bring a chair and your name tag, and we’ll see you on Thursday!

A few announcements

Make sure that you check your email for some important information about guild elections. Here is some other information worth mentioning before our meeting next Thursday.

The Michael Miller challenge has been extended to July 23. Extra time to make something amazing!
We are going to start having open sew meetings every few months and are planning the next one for a Saturday in July!
We are starting a monthly swap! More details at the meeting in May.
Teachers and lecturers have been announced for QuiltCon. Check out the post on the MQG blog

Sad News

It is with sadness that I pass along the news that Margaret (Peggy) Kelleher passed away on Friday night. Peggy loved our guild and was instrumental in its formal incorporation. She was passionate about all types of quilting, an eternally enthusiastic student. She was reluctant to give up her position as vice president while coping with illness.

Visitation hours will be held at Moriarty Funeral Home in Montclair on Tuesday, May 6 from 3-5PM and 7-9PM. A funeral mass will be held at St. Cassian’s in Upper Montclair.

I will update this post when there are more details about the mass.

For those who didn’t have the pleasure of knowing Peggy, or for anyone who wants to remember her, click here for an inspiring Q&A that she did on our old blog. She made the name tag that I wear at each meeting, and I think of her every time I read the message she wrote on the back of it: “Find your happy.”

We will miss her terribly.
