QuiltCon Charity Quilt 2019
This is Ameri’s and Amy’s beautiful design for the 2019 QuiltCon charity quilt with the theme, Tiny Piecing. The shapes within the blocks are representations of the small piecing. This is the portion of the quilt that will be pieced (improv, traditional or paper pieced) by individual members. More information on the timeline below.
Timeline:
The QuiltCon Charity quilt block packets will be handed out at sew-ins or at the September guild meeting (some may have already received block packets at the August meeting). You can either sew a block at home or attend one of the 2 sew-ins. There are a few spots left at the sew-ins if you would like to sew with other members (a fun way to get your block completed).
In order to stay on track with the rest of the timeline, the blocks (all have instructions accompanying them) must be returned at the October meeting.
After they are collected, the blocks will be pieced together to form a quilt top. During the September and October meetings there will also be fabric available to be pieced for a creative scrappy back. A volunteer(s) is needed for this job.
At the November meeting the top and back will be returned and handed off to a volunteer for quilting.
At the December meeting the quilted quilt will be handed off to the binder (we have volunteers for this already).
In Mid January the quilt will need a label and sleeve (volunteers needed).
On February 1st the Quilt will be mailed to QuiltCon in Nashville
Sew In dates: Thursday, September 13 10am-12pm at Jackie Laba’s house in Parsippany (Morris Plains mailing address) or the afternoon of October 7 at Margy Schilling’s house in Clifton (Note from Jackie: participants may come a little earlier and stay later; since I live next to Parsippany Hills High School, be warned that my street is impassable between 2 and 2:45)
Sign up sheets will be available at the meetings. Email Ameri (amerisardi@gmail.com) or Amy (aschultz296@gmail.com) if you would like to attend the above sew-ins, volunteer for one of the steps, or have any questions.
