July 2019 Guild Meeting Recap

Reminder: The meeting location for the August meeting!!

**August 15th  LDS Church 209 Mountain Ave Caldwell NJ**

Greetings fellow guild members! Here’s the recap of our July meeting.

Our meeting this month was held at the Wayne Public Library. We had a great turn out  of 50 attendees,  30 members and 20 guests joining us!

Rachel BondBaron took over the reigns of president for her first NJMGQ meeting and did a wonderful job.

We started the meeting with a presentation from Linda Seward, a former NJ resident, now residing in England.

The lecture was on how to distinguish between a contemporary quilt and a modern quilt.

She then gave us a sampling of her work.

Regular meeting business was conducted after the lecture.

The finished quilt for Michele’s Husband was shared.

Programs

Thanks went out to Rachel BondBaron and Sarah Fader for leading the Improv with Rules/Open-Sew on July 13th. We had a good size gathering and many strips were sewn together. Also, we were able to process much of the charity fabric for future projects.

For the September Post Card swap with the Cambridge, Mass MQG, we suggest taking a look at Diane Fama’s Instagram @njquiltlover . She has some examples of post cards she has made. We encourage you to sign up for this swap challenge. The theme is your favorite place.

The Block Printing Workshop is light on sign ups. We need to have 10 participants by 8/1, or we will need to cancel.

Crista of Mystery Quilt fame will be on vacation in Oregon on the first of the month, but promised we will have our clue #4 sometime during the day.

Charity

During the open sew, members took the collected log cabin block and grouped them in kits for quilt top assembly. If you are interested in a block assembling kit, talk with Rachel.

Look forward to seeing you at the August meeting!

Jennifer.
