NJMQG Sew for the Gold Sew-In

We are hosting a virtual Sew-In, but this time, it’s not snowing outside, it’s too HOT outside! The NJMQG Sew For The Gold Sew-In is this Sunday, August 14th from 11am to 5pm. Stay inside, watch the Olympics and SEW!

We will be posting on Instagram using the hashtag #njmqgsewforthegold. Show us what you are working on! You can also post on Facebook.

This is a great time to sew up a charity backpack for next week’s meeting! Read about it here. Links to the backpack pattern are here and free on Craftsy.

“See you” on Sunday! Use the following tags: #njmqgsewforthegold #njmqg @njmqg

Also, next week, the MQG is having an MQG Sew Day!

from the MQG site:
“Who says we have to be in the same place to sew together? You’re invited to a virtual sew day with MQG members around the world using Instagram stories.

The sew day will be held August 21 all day long, regardless of time zone. Post a photo using #mqgsewday to show others that you’re participating, then hop on to Instagram stories to post a live video of what you’re working on! Browse the hashtag to meet new friends and connect with members in real time. Hope to see you there!”

Backpacks & School Supplies Donation

Hello, everyone!

As announced at our July meeting, we are collecting backpacks and school supplies at the August meeting. Please consider making a backpack or donating school supplies (or both).  🙂

Click here for the link to the pattern that was distributed at the meeting. You can also find this pattern on Craftsy.

The pattern can be modified to make the backpack larger, or perhaps to add a pocket to the front. If you would like to use another pattern, please do so, keeping size in mind. The backpack should not be smaller than the pattern we have suggested. We ask that the straps of the backpack be made of fabric, webbing, etc. and not made of cord.

Here is a list of school supplies to consider donating:
Pens, pencils, crayons, colored pencils, markers, erasers, marbled notebooks (composition books), spiral notebooks, rulers, pocket folders, tissues, disinfectant wipes, hand sanitizer (non-scented), washable glue sticks, school glue, etc.

Please contact us at njmqginfo at gmail dot com with any questions.

Thank you!
