February 2018 Guild Meeting

Hello!

Let’s take a trip down memory lane to our fabulous Valentine’s tea…

Field trip

Michelle R updated us all on the field trip scheduled for April 14. We will be heading into Brooklyn for an adventure. We will check out the Brooklyn Museum have lunch and hit up Brooklyn General. We need at least a commitment of 10 people, so we will be taking sign ups and money at the March meeting!

Swap

Our next swap will be due at the April meeting. Let’s make some cool sewing organizers! There’s still some time to sign up!  Get inspired here

MQG

Quiltcon has come and gone. Have you seen the amazing stuff that was out there? And 2019 has been announced…who already has plans to go to Nashville?

Quiltfest

We are asking for volunteers to help coordinate, set up and take down. Set up will start Tuesday April 24, 1-4. We will have a guild exhibition. Individual entry for quiltfest is March 26 (for guild March 21)

Charity

We will be collecting more pillowcases in a April. Whip a few up today!

Rachel is generously offering to make more templates. Any shapes and sizes you know would work well with kits? Let her or us know.

Bylaws

We are continuing to review and revise the bylaws.

Programs

Sarah is busy filling up our calendar! Keep an eye out for updates and sign ups. Chawne Kimber will be here before we know it! So excited!

Show and Tell

We we’re lucky enough to have Berene aka Happy Sew Lucky aka member Janita’s sister be at our meeting. Funny thing is that she was having a little giveaway on IG and our Margy (and I) won!! So she was able to give her the prize and brought along the Badass quilt for us to enjoy.

And here is Cosmo rocking the quilt holding. He’s got some mad skills.

January 2018 Guild Meeting

Happy New Year everyone!

We have renewed our membership with the MQG for another fabulous year. Thanks so to all who have renewed and if you haven’t, there is always time! We will be receiving our membership cards next month.

  • Quiltfest- Any help setting up April 25 or taking down April 29 would be greatly appreciated. Reach out to us if you know you can/would like to help
  • Amy Friend workshop- coming up this Friday Jan 26 and Saturday Jan 27. If you are available to help set up or break down, it would be much appreciated. You can find the details here
  • New calendar in the works. Handout given. Will post soon. We are working on booking high demand teachers 2 yrs in advance. Any ideas? Shoot us an email info@njmqg.com
  • Round Robin starting! Will be monthly.  Check out the Pinterest board if you need ideas or help.

December 2017 meeting/Holiday Party

Hello quilty friends and Happy New year!

Now that the holidays are over, it’s a time to start fresh. But first let’s revisit the fun we had at the Holiday party!

We had 49 people partying with us. (I do want to apologize for not getting great pictures because I was slightly under the weather.)

Special trunk show

Rayna is one of our founding members. She and Aleeda met on Simply Quilts.

They decided to start a Modern, but really all inclusive, guild in New Jersey. And the rest is history…

Her most recent book is called Create your own Improv Quilts. She started with the question ‘What If…?’

Most importantly, “you need to play!”
