QuiltCon Charity Quilting Bee this Sunday, January 8, 2017

We could use some help getting our QuiltCon charity quilt put together to be ready for machine quilting by our next meeting on Jan 19.

Margy S. and Sarah F. have agreed to coordinate the effort.

There’s a little bit of paper piecing to be done; putting the blocks and rows together; and then designing and adding borders.

If 5 to 10 members can work on it for two to three hours we should be able to accomplish this.

The plan is to meet at Margy S.’s house Sunday, January 8, from 2 – 5pm.

She lives in Clifton, quite near rtes. 3 and 46, and the Parkway. Come join us, we’ll have fun!

Bring your sewing machine if it’s easily portable, and your basic sewing kit.

We’ll bring the finished top to the next meeting for all to see. Hopefully the collective  creative mind will come up with a name for the quilt, so that someone can make a label.

Jackie L. has agreed to do the machine quilting, and after that we’ll need one more volunteer to bind it.

If you’d like to help but are unable to do so this Sunday, please let us know if the following Sunday or Monday (a holiday) work better for you.

Please contact Margy if you want to join our quilting bee. Click here or on the Members Only tab at the top of the page for her email address.

Reminder: October 2016 Open Sew Tomorrow for QuiltCon Charity Quilt

Our October 2016 OPEN SEW is tomorrow, Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. at the Community Church of Cedar Grove, 65 Bowden Street, Cedar Grove, NJ (where we meet for our monthly guild meetings).

We have SIX hours of sewing scheduled! Can’t make it for the entire time? Come when you can!

** We are working on our QuiltCon charity quilt.

A main section of the quilt is foundation paper-pieced. There are other areas of the quilt that do not require paper-piecing.

Please bring an extension cord and/or power strip, neutral thread (light gray or cream), task light,  paper piecing tools (“Add-A-Quarter” ruler, scissors for paper, etc).

• Pack your lunch and please bring a snack or drinks to share if you can.

• We need a couple of members to bring in an iron/ironing mat/board to share. Please comment below if you can share an “ironing set up.”
