Open Sew January 24 CANCELLED – Online Open Snow instead!

Hi everyone! Saturday’s Open Sew meeting invitation was not received by the Nor’Easter that will bring snow and ice and general winter misery to North Jersey. So we will not be meeting at the LDS church in Caldwell. Sadly, our meeting is cancelled.

However! Since we’ll be trapped inside with time to spare, why not sew at home AND together?

Introducing NJMQG’s first ever online sewcial! We’re calling it NJMQG Open Snow. Saturday, 12-4PM

Here’s how you can participate:

  1. Post pictures of what you’re sewing on Instagram. Hashtag it #njmqg and/or #njmqgopensnow
  2. Post in our members-only Facebook group any questions, conversations or links you’d like to share.
  3. Check in on both groups and like/comment your guild mates’ work!

We’re going to post announcements from the meeting here on the blog and post pictures of our door prizes (fabric pre-cuts!) on Instagram. Comment for a chance to win! We’ll have a different prize every hour.

Stay warm, stay safe, and sew on!

The August Guild meeting is the 21st but there’s plenty of time to whip up a pincushion for our next swap!

No color restrictions or rules we only ask that you make a pincushion that you would LOVE to receive.

We’ve put together an inspiration board on Pinterest to get your creative juices flowing.

Can’t wait to see what you bring to the swap table later this month!

June Mug Rug Swap

Mug Rug Pinterest

It was announced during the May meeting that we’ll be hosting a Mug Rug swap at the June meeting.

What’s a mug rug you ask? It’s a mini quilt that’s typically used as a coaster.

For our swap, we’ll be making mug rugs approximately 5″ x 5″ and in shades of the Pantone Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid.

If you’d like to participate, create one mug rug approx.  5″ x 5″ made with a top, batting, backing, and binding. We have created a Mug Rug Inspiration board on the NJMQG Pinterest page to help you get the creativity flowing…go check it out!

Bring your Mug Rug to the June meeting – anyone who makes a Mug Rug will receive one.

Any questions? Leave a comment and we’ll respond!
