• Member Corner: Many of our members have their own creative businesses and services to offer. A designated table is provided for members to leave their business cards, class/workshop lists, postcards, etc. This is a great way to get the word out about what you have to offer!

• Library: Have you borrowed a book from the NJMQG library? Books can be checked out for one month. Please see Laura F., our librarian.  If you borrowed a book at the last meeting, please remember to return it this month

• Upcoming Programs: A few spots are still available for Amy Friend Workshops on January 26 & 27.

See you on Thursday!

Round Robin – here’s  how it works:

To the January meeting, bring a block that will be the center of your quilt. It can be a UFO! It can be rectangular! It can be anything: pieced, appliquéd, painted, a pretty panel, whatever….

With your block, also bring any scraps, strips, fat quarters, etc., that you would be glad to have included in future rounds. Those who work on your quilt CAN use those pieces or ignore them completely, their choice. Also include a note if you wish to specify any preferences, such as “do not use any cat fabric” or “you can use black if it works.” But again, your preferences may be ignored. Part of the pleasure here is giving up control. Really.

Starter blocks will be distributed to Round Robin participants at the Jan meeting. You’ll take one home and add a border, due back at the next meeting. You’re only committing to one round at a time. So stretch your modern-quilty muscles and HAVE FUN!

Here’s the example of a UFO starting block that Lori showed in Nov.

There are lots of other examples of Round Robins on Pinterest and elsewhere on the internet, and we’ll talk more about it at the meeting.    http://www.phillymodernquiltguild.com/2013/10/round-robin-challenge.html

Rayna is one of our founding members. She and Aleeda met on Simply Quilts.

They decided to start a Modern, but really all inclusive, guild in New Jersey. And the rest is history…

Her most recent book is called Create your own Improv Quilts. She started with the question ‘What If…?’

…I start with a rectangle and go from there?

…start with a square?

…skinny rectangle?

Most importantly, “you need to play!”

Good luck to Rayna in Florida and we will see you in October! TTFN!

Now on to the fun and shenanigans…
